Periodically I’ll get a request on my site, or on Facebook, for directions on how to buy Way Out.
I wish I could direct them to Amazon, so they could buy it, but it hasn’t been published yet. I firmly believe it will be, and when I lose faith others remind me of that. But it hasn’t been published yet.
But it’s helping people already.
The other day I saw someone who had read the manuscript. “It was just what I needed,” she said. “Just what I needed at the time I needed it.”
That’s why I wrote it.
As I’ve said many times, if by telling my story I can help others through their stories, whatever that might mean, then it’s all been worth it. It makes my story, my path, more worthwhile.
I want to be of help to others. I want to ease their pain, as much as I can and as much as others have helped ease mine.
Stumbling into 12-step programs and learning that I wasn’t alone. Learning who was safe to talk to about my past, and who simply couldn’t understand. Getting the hugs, the support, the comradeship I needed.
I felt heard and understood. There’s great peace in finding a community where everyone simply knows what you mean, and gets you.
I like to think I can offer this to others. That by hearing my story they feel hope for their story.
And the book is doing it already. Even before it is a book.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, and please share this post with others if it resonates with you!
