In my Positive Psychology certification course we’ve just studied Purpose and Meaning – and how important and fulfilling (and inciting of well-being) they are. And they are.

But, as I shared with my class, there’s Purpose and Meaning, and then there’s PURPOSE and MEANING. And as someone who grew up having PURPOSE and MEANING, let me tell you how intoxicating they are.

When you know you know the TRUTH, your life has significance. When you know you know the MESSIAH, you never question the meaning of your life. When you know you have the ANSWERS, it’s electrifying and potent. You never wonder. You never doubt. You never worry. You just know.

Why do people kill for their religion? Because they KNOW. Why do people hate, condemn, and persecute others over religion? Because they KNOW. Why do people die for their religion? Because they KNOW.

Even if they’re wrong, they believe they KNOW. It’s intoxicating and it’s dangerous.

I remember so well when I knew the absolute meaning of life. Of my life. Of your life even. I remember when my purpose was clear.

I have redefined my purpose, or defined it for myself this time. My purpose is to love. To give love and receive love. To bring as much love as I can, personally, to everyone I know and to this world.

That’s my new truth. And sometimes it’s just as intoxicating.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, and please share this post with others if it resonates with you!
