That’s what a yoga dearest said to me last week, after our pre-class hug. I let it sink in.

It’s not often that someone tells us we’re perfect. Even though it’s someone who doesn’t know me well. Even though all we know of each other is our yoga bond, sweaty practice, and pre-practice hugs. I let it sink in. Why not?

It’s not often that we think we’re perfect. That’s why it’s worthwhile, in my not-so-humble opinion, to let it sink in.

The fact that we are all perfect is one “truth” of my FLYT path to transformational life and leadership. (Truth #3 – You are perfect, just as you are). Yes, I know there is no such thing as perfection (also part of Truth #3), and I’m happy to admit I don’t aim for it anymore in practically anything. In fact, my favorite word being “Oops!” is also part of Truth #3.

When my yoga dearest told me that I was perfect, I allowed myself to believe and agree with it. To know it completely, fully wholly, unquestioningly.

I know my truest self is perfect just as it is. As I am. I know your truest self is also perfect, just as you are. I know that in so many ways we are taught that this can’t possibly be true. We have come to believe that we need to be more, or less, depending on the topic. That what we do or think or feel is not okay. Is not enough. Is too much.

What if the opposite is true? What if the goal is not be better or perfect, but to just be? To take up space? To be yourself? To love yourself?

What if the truth is that you are perfect, just as you are, right now, right here flaws and all?

I happen to know you are.

Let that sink in.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, and please share this post with others if it resonates with you. Let’s start a movement of loving ourselves First Most and Always!
