Again yoga. Again something beautiful to hear and take in. How often do I say that?

Of course the instructor was talking about our yoga poses. Look with your eyes where and how you want your body to move and be, and it will. If not now, then eventually.

And of course, it is about way more than yoga, as it usually is, especially with this instructor.

I first heard this concept when I was learning to drive, and I would turn to look at something and nearly drive off the road. I had to train my body not to follow my eyes in those moments. I similarly taught this to my kids, when I helped them learn to ride bicycles (and drive).

I think “your body follows your eyes” is one of my greatest learnings in learning how to heal. It’s the reason for and impact of my yellow birds. It’s how and why I’ve trained myself to find the good, find the love, find the joy, and let it in.

My healing has also absolutely been about actually, finally feeling the feelings. From then. From now. The grief. The outrage. The terror. About accepting realities and disappointments and rage. About doing what I need to and can to address those that need to be addressed.

And in the midst of all those, putting my eyes – my intention and attention – where I want my body, mind, spirit, and soul to be and to go. If not now, then eventually.

Allowing the beauty and light and love and power and strength of all that fill and full and feel and fuel me.

Where are your eyes looking?
